Configura Inc. announces the launch of KI’s CET Designer Extension, SpecEngine. KI (http://www.ki.com) joins manufacturers Steelcase, Haworth, Teknion, Spacefile, Inscape, Aurora Storage Products, Carvajal Espacios and Solinoff, which also have chosen the CET Designer solution.
“The KI team is very excited about our new Configura-generated SpecEngine solution. We anticipate improved customer satisfaction through the integration of many visual tools, including 3D previews, floor plans and automated quotations, all through the SpecEngine CET Designer Extension,” said KI Senior Product Marketing Manager Rob Wittl.
Green Bay, Wisconsin-based KI, serving customers since 1941, manufactures innovative furniture and movable wall system solutions for education, healthcare, government and corporate markets across the globe. KI’s product details are built into the rules-based CET Designer software, which automatically and accurately calculates technical information, quantities, parts numbers and pricing. Detailed system images can produce 2D and 3D drawings, photorealistic renderings and videos, bills of material and installation instructions.
“The significant improvements this collaboration with Configura provides for our sales and ordering process gives us a competitive advantage in the industry,” said Jesse Lamberg, General Manager, KI Movable Walls. “SpecEngine will help us and our partners to reduce errors, shorten turnaround times and use resources more efficiently.”
Configura Extension Technology (CET) is the basis for CET Designer software and Extensions. It’s based on Parametric Graphical Configuration (PGC), a technology and business model developed by Configura that simplifies the complex selling process for those who specify configurable products. Because product details and rules are built into Extensions, the software is smart: It won’t let users make ordering mistakes, such as connecting the wrong support to a desk. As a result, dealerships that sell the product lines can focus on design while letting the software handle the technical details. The software does not require AutoCAD but easily imports AutoCAD files and can export to AutoCAD.
“CET Designer software is changing the way manufacturers, dealers and their designers do business. With one solution, they’re able to handle all of the functions of the design, specification and ordering process. It’s a whole new level of serving customers better,” said Configura Vice President Peter Brandinger.
Configura serves the European and North and South American markets and counts 8,300 software users across the globe.
