CET Designer® 2.2 released
CET Designer® 2.2 includes a new graphics engine, which expands the ability of the software to handle projects with hundreds of workstations – projects that require very large drawings. CET Designer doesn’t require AutoCAD (or knowledge of it), although users have access to an easy-to-use interface to import AutoCAD drawings and export to AutoCAD.
“For projects large and small, CET Designer handles all phases of the designing, specifying, quotation, ordering and installation process – without sacrificing stability or speed,” CEO Johan Lyreborn said. “It’s a comprehensive, stand-alone package. The ‘feel’ of it is similar to the high-end graphics and functionality found in video games.”
The graphics engine optimizes the power of the graphics card in users’ computers to offer:
- Real-time rendering – amazingly real environments as users design
- Significant speed enhancements
- Smooth and easy navigation in both 2D and 3D – just like in today’s video games
Configura CET Designer Extensions include Haworth’s Canvas, Steelcase’s SmartTools and Teknion’s Storyboard, with Spacefile’s Spacetools Extension launching this spring. Configura’s collaboration with ProjectMatrix, the ProjectSymbols Extension, additionally gives users access to more than 80 percent of the office furniture symbols in the contract-furniture industry.
“CET Designer and Extensions offer a complete solution to help dealers and designers do more and sell more in difficult economic times,” Configura Vice President Peter Brandinger said.
CET Designer is easy to learn – and it also helps dealers and designers learn manufacturers’ products better.
“The learning curve is dramatically reduced with CET because the ‘rules’ of furniture design are built into the program,” said Haworth dealer and CET Designer Canvas user Damon Andrews, vice president of operations for Faciliteq in Las Vegas. “
A new designer doesn’t need to study planning guides for weeks or attend lengthy training classes before producing accurate drawings, specs and bills of material. Applying proper interior design principles gained through design education, the designer can contribute in a matter of days.”
