The May 2026 Release: Strengthening the Foundation
Not every release is about adding something shiny on top. Some are about reinforcing what everything else depends on.
With the May 2026 release, including CET 17.0 Major and Spec 9.0 Major, the focus is on strengthening the foundation: improving stability, reducing friction, and making everyday work feel easier and more predictable. Much of this work shows up in the quiet details, especially for teams working in larger, more complex projects where reliability isn’t optional.
CET 17.0: quieter improvements that make a real difference
This release brings core improvements across performance, precision, and reliability for teams working on the Configura platform. Navigation, snapping, measurements, calculations, exports, and catalogue handling have all been refined to behave more consistently, even as projects grow in size and detail.
Many of these updates address long‑standing friction points that users have raised over time. Clearer load‑error diagnostics, more robust catalogue downloads, improved undo behavior, and more predictable installation and update workflows help reduce interruptions in daily work. Improvements to 3D snapping, measurement clarity, and pricing validation make editing and reviewing designs feel more controlled and easier to trust, particularly in demanding, professional workflows.
There’s also continued modernization behind the scenes. Secure browser‑based sign‑in and infrastructure updates strengthen reliability at the platform level, supporting long‑term stability rather than short‑term features.

A new way to share and review CET drawings: Web Viewer
We’re introducing something genuinely new.
Web Viewer makes it possible to share CET drawings directly in the browser. Designers can upload a scene, generate a link, and invite others to view and navigate the drawing in 3D — with no CET installation required.
In May, Web Viewer becomes available for Commercial Interiors and Kitchen & Bath, supporting quick design reviews, easier stakeholder collaboration, and early feedback without extra setup. For Material Handling, Web Viewer is currently being beta tested, with broader availability planned later this year once it has been validated in large, height‑critical environments.
This first version is intentionally focused, centered on simple sharing and viewing, and designed to establish a solid foundation for future expansion.

Focused gains across industries
Beyond the shared platform improvements, the May 2026 release includes targeted updates shaped by industry‑specific needs and day‑to‑day use.
Better Tools for Better Collaboration
Commercial Interiors benefits from clearer presentation and collaboration workflows. Architectural tool refinements, improved visuals, and stronger documentation behavior help support smoother conversations with stakeholders. |
Improved Accuracy from Design to Order
Kitchen & Bath workflows become more predictable and detail driven, with additions like NCS color support, clearer pricing validation, improved import handling, and refinements that smooth the transition from design conversation to order preparation. |
Expanding multi-level warehouse design in CET: Essential MezzanineFor Material Handling users, one milestone stands out. Essential Mezzanine is now available as a fully released Extension, giving teams a more structured way to design and configure multi-level warehouse environments directly within CET. With support for both rack-supported and standalone structures, along with integrated elements like stairs, gates, and safety features, this update makes it easier to plan and adapt complex layouts with confidence. Alongside broader improvements to Sketch & Build, collaboration performance, and exports, this marks an important step forward in handling large-scale Material Handling projects. |
Spec 9.0: smoother handoff, less manual work
Spec 9.0 follows the same foundation‑first approach. The focus here is on improving continuity and reducing manual work between design and specification.
Support for project information, package counts, and expanded query imports helps ensure that key data flows more reliably from CET into Spec. Performance improvements make large, image‑heavy files faster to open, easier to work with, and smoother to finish.
The result is a calmer, more dependable transition from layout and calculation to finalized documentation, helping teams stay focused and design efficiently as projects move forward.
