How is Aline different from Spec? / Will Spec go away? / What are the benefits of having both?
Aline and Spec are designed for different use cases. Aline is ideal for fast-moving orders with standalone products, while Spec is better suited for complex, detailed specification needs. Both tools complement each other, and Spec will continue to be supported for customers who need its advanced functionality.
How is Aline different from Stage? / Is there really a need to keep both?
Aline and Stage are designed for different purposes. - Aline is built for speed and simplicity. It's ideal for handling fast-moving orders with standalone products with speed and efficiency. - Stage is a 360° single-product configurator that allows manufacturers to bring their full product assortment to life online. It's a visualization tool, configuration tool, and pricing engine, all in one. Together, they complement each other: Stage inspires and presents, while Aline executes and orders.

Who is Aline created for? Who are the target users/markets?
Aline is primarily designed for the North American commercial interiors industry, especially dealership roles and manufacturer representatives, who manage simple, fast-moving orders for standalone products.
Where can I buy Aline?
Aline is available directly through Configura's Marketplace. Our sales and customer success teams are here to guide you through the process, answer questions, and help you get started quickly.
Is Aline available worldwide?
Aline is currently not available outside of North America, but we are gauging interest and evaluating expansion opportunities.
Can I use it as a designer?
Yes. Designers can use Aline for simple, standalone product orders. Designers may also find it helpful to preview the final look of a specified product, for example, seeing a 3D visual of a chair with all its options selected.
Is this tool only for dealerships?
No. Manufacturer representatives can also benefit from using Aline.
Is it annual or monthly?
Starting in 2026, Aline will be offered with both annual and monthly pricing options.
Does Aline provide drawings/renderings?
No.
What happens if the requested product/data isn’t available?
If a product isn't yet available in the catalogs, you can enter it as a non-catalog product. For missing or incomplete content, manufacturers are responsible for keeping their catalogs up to date, and Configura works with them to ensure data accuracy over time.
How is data managed in Aline?
Aline manages two types of data: - User and personal data: Your personal information is stored and protected in line with GDPR and other applicable data protection regulations. Aline uses industry-standard practices, including secure storage and encryption, to safeguard user data. - Project and product data: Project data is stored in multiple secure databases on AWS (Amazon Web Services). Aline uses the same CIL catalog data as CET and Spec, ensuring accuracy and consistency across tools. You can export projects via SIF files, making it easy to share data with designers or other Configura products.
What is the algorithm for product recommendations?
Aline's product recommendations are designed to be simple and helpful. The system currently prioritizes manufacturers with available materials and presents options in a randomized order, so users see a variety of relevant products.
Can a manufacturer control data or add a custom proxy?
No. Aline only consumes product data directly from CIL catalogs. This ensures that the information is accurate, consistent, and up to date across all Configura products.
How does Aline integrate with CET, Spec, Worksheet, or ordering/ERP systems?
You can import and export SIF files between Aline and your designer's tools, ensuring a smooth workflow.
Is training/support in place?
Yes. Our support team is available to answer questions, and help articles are already published. Training is being developed and will be available soon.
