AI + Configura Code: A Quick Update

AI is becoming part of every developer's toolbox, and we want you to be able to use it when working with Configura technology.

To make things clearer, we've added a new AI-use appendix to the CET Developer License Agreement. The goal is not to limit productive use of AI. Quite the opposite. The appendix explains what is encouraged, what requires approval, and where the guardrails are when Configura source code and documentation are involved.

Go ahead and use AI for things like:

• Understanding code
• Debugging and troubleshooting
• Code reviews
• Refactoring
• Test generation
• Documentation
• Architecture discussions
• Technical research and navigation

You can also use retrieval-based solutions such as RAG, vector indexes, and embeddings when they are used to retrieve information and provide context, not to train models.

What we don't want

Configura code, documentation, or knowledge derived from them must not be used to:

• Train public AI models
• Fine-tune public AI models
• Improve public AI models
• Contribute to public training datasets

In short, using AI to understand and work with Configura code is fine. Using Configura code to improve someone else's AI model is not.

What about private models?

If you have a use case that involves training or fine-tuning a private model using Configura materials, talk to us first. Those scenarios may be possible, but they require prior approval and a separate agreement.

Which AI tools can I use?

Please stick to Configura-approved enterprise AI services. The appendix contains the current list of approved platforms and the conditions that apply to them. You can find the proposed appendix here you can also find the entire agreement here.
