CMSym Support and Future Plans
We want to inform you of a recent technical decision regarding CET that may impact your extension(s).
Effective immediately, Configura will no longer support CMSym as a programming solution. Please note that this does not affect CMSym as a model format or file type—you can and should continue to use CMSym for CET and Data Catalog graphics where appropriate. This change solely impacts the use of CMSym for creating and manipulating graphics programmatically.
After careful evaluation, we’ve concluded that the performance and developer experience issues associated with CMSym programmatic graphics are significant and resolving them would require considerable effort and cost for all parties. Given the ongoing reliability and adoption of the existing ‘Primitives’ system for programmatic graphics, we’ve decided to halt further support for CMSym in this specific area.
What this means:
- Feature requests related to CMSym programmatic graphics will no longer be addressed.
- Configura will only maintain and support current behavior and performance of CMSym programmatic graphics, for the foreseeable future.
- CMSym will continue to be fully supported as a model format, including its use in tools like Stage and Catalogue Creator.
If your extension relies on CMSym for programmatic graphics, we recommend beginning a transition to the Primitive3D system. While there is no immediate deprecation or removal planned, starting this process early will help ensure a smooth migration and access to technical support.
