Opening and Closing a Drawing

Recent drawings

At the bottom of the File menu, the four most recently opened drawings are listed. Choose the file you want to open by clicking it. If one of the files is no longer available, it disappears from the list.

 

Opening a drawing

To locate and open a saved drawing, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the File menu and select Open. The Load Drawing dialog box opens:

  2. Browse to the desired drawing by using one of following options:

– Look in: Find the desired drawing by clicking through the folder structure till you find the right location.

– Desktop: Click the Desktop button if you would like to open a drawing located on the desktop.

– My Computer: Click the My Computer button if you would like to navigate to This PC.

– My Documents: Click My Documents if you wish to open a drawing located in My Documents.

– Recent: Click the Recent button if you wish to open a drawing that recently have been opened.

– Autosave: If you wish to open a drawing that has been automatically saved.

– My network places: A shortcut to Window’s network places.

  1. Select the file and click Open or double-click the file name.
Note:

  • Select the Backups check box if you also wish to show all backup files.
  • If you only wish to see the backup files for a certain drawing, select the drawing, right-click and select Find backup.
  • If you would like more information about a file, select the file and mark the Info check box (see Figure 1).

 

You can choose how to display your drawings in the Load Drawing dialog box. The following options can be selected:

Sort files by name: The files will be sorted in alphabetical order. This button is only visible when the files are ordered by date, see #1.

Sort files by date : The files will be sorted by date. This button is only visible when the files are ordered by name.

Choose view: Click the button in the top right corner and choose desired option in the drop down menu, see #2.

Note:

  • Besides opening drawings from the File menu, you can also open drawings by:

A.  Clicking the Open button on the toolbar.

B.  Using the shortcut: Ctrl+O.

C.  You can also open a drawing directly from Windows Explorer. Open Windows Explorer and select the file you want to open. Drag the file to the drawing area.

  • To open one of your recent documents, you can also click the appropriate file name at the bottom of the File menu.

Closing a drawing

When you want to close a drawing in CET Designer, simply select a new drawing area.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the File menu and select New. A dialog box opens with the question, “Save changes to current drawing?”.
  2. Click Yes to save. Once this is done, the drawing is closed and a new drawing area is opened in the 2D and 3D views.
Note:

  • If you want to close down the program entirely, go to the File menu and select Exit.
