Update – Patch # 3 (August 15, 2016)

Movie Studio

  • Added the new Stationary Camera tool, which lets you pan the camera while still standing still in one location.

Stairs

  • You can now choose which direction a spiral stair should wind itself, this can be done from the stair’s quick property box.
  • Two new railing tools have been added; you can now use the Insert or Remove Post tool to modify the automatic railings, or the Custom Railings tool to create your entirely own designs.

Fixed a problem that could occur when dragging lights between multiple floors.

 

Miscellaneous

Fixed problem with the Place Image on Wall object, that would cause it to not correctly display changes made to Depth value in 3D.
Fixed problem with rendering of images in the Photo Lab, that could result in a black image if you render a view mode that does not show normal objects (such as a CAD or Architectural object).
Fixed problem with loading old drawings that could cause objects (that allow locking from their quick properties box) to automatically become locked.
Fixed problem with some objects having their tags always be visible, regardless of viewport settings in the Paper View.
Fixed problem with creation of blocks from on objects in elevated positions (for example a floor above ground level). This could cause the blocks to not correctly identify which level they were on in the Calculation.
Fixed problem with loading of Visibility Settings, saved in older versions of CET Designer, that could cause them to now show up correctly in the Visibility Settings dialog.
Fixed issue with stretching a Flooring object, set to cover the existing floor, that could cause a crash.

 

Update – Patch # 2 (June 16, 2016)

Changes made to edit fields in the Floors dialog will now only apply after the Enter key is pressed.
Ceiling lights used with multiple floors will have their maximum elevation follow the ceiling height of the floor they are placed upon.
Fixed problem with setting default materials for walls that would cause the new default to not be saved.
Fixed problem with 3D text when the text component did not contain any text.
Fixed problem with multiple floors that could allow objects to be placed beneath the floor.
Fixed problem with Office Accessories and Humans when placed on multiple floors, that could cause the objects to place slightly below the floor they were standing on.
Fixed problem with loading of older drawings in 7.0 that could cause Image on wall objects to be reduced to a size of zero.
Fixed problem with Reconfiguration Tool that could cause it to not automatically update when a manual quantity change was applied.
Fixed problem with log in caused by registered e-mail address containing a blank space at the beginning or end.
Fixed problem with viewports that could cause a locked viewport to become invisible.
Fixed problem with Undo for floors that had been moved to overlap other floors.

Update – Patch # 1 (May 31, 2016)

The Material Explorer should now open faster.
The Render Accelerator Extension should now display its correct name in the update dialog.
If the Photo Lab or Calculation windows are open and you try to open them again will now instead bring the already open dialog to the front.
Fixed problem with printing article views to PDF.
Fixed problem with printing from Reconfiguration Tool.
Fixed problem with the categorization settings for view ports in the Paper View, which could cause settings to be lost when loading older drawings in CET Designer 7.0.
Fixed problem with tile types and materials when working with multiple floors.
Fixed problem with the window light component, that would cause it to not update correctly when the inside/outside of the parent window was switched using the tool in the 3D view.

SketchUp Back as a Built-In Dialog

  • The 3D Warehouse dialog returns as a built-in dialog in CET Designer. This eliminates the need for switching over to an internet browser to download new models.
  • The 3D Warehouse window lets you download multiple models simultaneously, and will display a download progress indicator.
  • You can now tell CET Designer to automatically save any models you download to the location of your choice:

Create Custom Ceilings with Integrated Lights

  • You can now create custom shapes for ceilings with integrated lights:

  • The Light Remover tool now supports clicking and dragging to draw a rectangle, removing all touched lights.
  • The Reset Lights tool no longer automatically resets all ceiling light grids. You now have the option of clicking on a grid to reset it, or choosing the all option in the animation property to reset all grids, regardless of which one you click on.
  • Ceilings with integrated lights now default to having the Solid option turned on.

PDF Import Enhancements and Updates

  • Imported PDF files can now be locked, to prevent accidental movement, in the same way an imported CAD can be locked. This is achieved by checking the Lock Position box in the image component’s quick properties box.
  • The PDF import dialog no longer closes directly after importing a page or image, to make it easier to bring in more images at a time.
  • The PDF import dialog now has a button to load a different PDF without having to reopen the dialog.
  • The PDF import dialog now displays a more informative message if no images are available to import.
  • The PDF import dialog is now better at handling image transparency when viewing images available in a PDF.
  • Added support for transparency in imported PDF images visible in the 3D view.
  • Added support for importing PDF images as Image on wall objects.
  • Added support for drag & dropping from the PDF import dialog to the drawing area.
  • Added support for starting PDF import drag & dropping a file onto CET Designer.
  • Added support for navigating the PDF import dialog using the arrow keys.

Taking It to the Next Level with Multiple Floors

  • CET Designer now supports creating and working with multiple building floors in full 3D.
    The new Architectural component tab holds the controls for creating and editing floors:

  • The Floors dialog offers various settings and options for working with floors.

  • You can assign a tag to a floor; this will automatically apply the tag to all objects placed on that floor as well.
  • Floors can be hidden as needed, both from within the dialog, and from your 3D View.
  • To support this new functionality, as well as future changes, the Walls view mode has been renamed to Architectural.

  • Also in support of this, the Photo Lab has a new set of controls added to the Photograph setup This lets you select which floor(s) should be visible when rendering an image.

  • Last but not least, it also affects the visibility settings in the Paper View, where Floors now have their own tab to support multiple floors:

Other

  • Open/Save dialogs now have a shortcut button for quick access to “My Computer”.
  • The Area Calculation tool now supports hatch filling.
  • Walls now support hatch filling in the 2D view, and a new setting for Walls is available under the Hatch tab in the Styles dialog.
  • The Calculation, Photo Lab and Reconfiguration tool windows now support minimize/maximize, and registers with the Windows ALT+TAB command for fast dialog switching.
  • Drag & Dropping a supported image file onto the 3D view will automatically turn it into an Image on Wall object.

Movie Studio Path Editing Tools Have New Behavior and Icons

  • Several path editing tools have changed their behavior; they no longer specify a permanent change to the path, but rather a change over a specified part of a path before returning to the original value.This new behavior also lets you control how quick the transition to the new value will be at the beginning and the end of the designated part of the path.For additional clarity, some path editing tools have been given new icons.PathEditingTools_70_eng

Part Tagging

  • To accommodate the new multi-floors functionality, default-generated tags in the Part Tagging dialog will change name from Floor1 to Room1. This will only apply to newly created drawings; existing drawings will not change.
  • You can now select Part Tag rectangles by clicking on the tag text. This is done to make it easier to select Part Tag rectangles that have their line style set to none.

Symbols Extension

  • Added ability to lock architectural symbols placed in the drawing, to prevent accidentally moving them.
  • You can now use the Style Editor to make detailed settings for symbol lines and text.
  • The Symbol Notes Legend will now automatically list all architectural symbols present in your drawing when the legend is first placed.
    The legend will not automatically update as new symbols are placed in the drawing; if you want to update any given legend, you can right click on it and select Update legend.
  • The Symbol Notes Legend now supports the use of styles.

Solved Issues

Miscellaneous

Reduced frequency of Component tabs jumping up and down when selected or scrolling. The main list should now only move the focus if you select tabs near the top or bottom.
Fixed a problem that would allow the Remover tool to target items that were not currently visible.
Added support for showing a selection outline/box for invisible objects that are selected. It was previously possible to select (and modify) invisible objects without knowing that it was happening.
Fixed problem with Outline Overlay rendering in the Photo Lab, that could cause it to render the contour for the wrong image. Resulting in contours from one photo, and final render from another photo.

Walls

Fixed problem with the Window/Door properties dialog that would cause all changed values to reset themselves back to default when a dropdown was changed.

Other

Improved detection of newer graphics cards.
Fixed an issue with NVIDIA graphics not getting detected on Optimus laptops on Windows 8 & 10.
Added workaround for issues with Intel HD graphics drivers that could cause specific OpenGL crashes. Please note that Intel HD is not a dedicated graphics card, and as such does not meet minimum system recommendations for CET Designer.
Improved support for working with proxies, this should reduce the number of cases where the proxy would deny needed traffic.
Added back slider for Title size for some architectural symbols.
Improved handling of wall image component during save and load.
Fixed problem with saving of Hatch Styles, that could cause the Style to only be saved with the drawing, and not as a reusable Style.
Fixed problem with saving of default materials for floors that could cause floors to instead turn red.
Fixed problem with copy/paste of blocks not always correctly updating materials in the 2D view.
Fixed problem with the Material Explorer that could in some cases cause the program to stop responding.
