Adding Electrical and Architechtural Symbols to Your Drawing

Last modified: Nov 02, 2018

Downloading the Symbol Library Extension from the Marketplace will add a component tab to CET Designer that contains folders with electrical and architectural symbols that you can place in your drawing. These North American symbols follow Architectural Graphics Standards guidelines and are provided for user benefit and clarification. Note that they are not included in bill of materials.

Place Symbols

To place a symbol in your drawing, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Symbols component tab.
  2. Open a folder and select the symbol.
  3. Move the mouse pointer to the drawing area and click the symbol in place. When you are close to a wall, the symbol will snap to the wall. “On curve” means nearest.

  4. Use the property box to change the size or add text to the symbol. Here, you can also change the symbol to any other from the same folder.

Note that the main folder Symbol as well as the sub-folders Architectural and Electrical in the component tab display a lock icon. Clicking a lock prevents accidental movement of the symbols belonging to that particular folder as their position is then locked.

Elevation View Area

Use the Elevation tool to create an elevation view of walls, doors and 3D objects in the drawing. Use the yellow stretch points to adjust the size of the elevation, thus deciding what will be included. There is also a yellow rotation point at the center of the box to change the view direction.

Once the elevation view is in place, you can go to the property box to change the visibility, change the label alignment and add break lines as needed.
