Configura’s trek to NeoCon ’12 started with a Crown Vic – a big boat of a car that’s anything but “cool” compared to the cute izzy+ Mini-Cooper that wedges between the semi-trucks lining “Merchandise Mart row” during NeoCon Week.
Somehow, a punchy, pink handmade Simplify! sign (created by Configurans Amy Edington and Alexandra Tseffos) and a whole lotta attitude (Edington and Tseffos joined by fellow Configuran Peter Brandinger!) rocked that Crown Vic all the way to Chi-Town … and then that sign started showing up all over town – outside of a nail salon after pedi’s, on a Lake Michigan beach, at restaurants, and, of course, in and around the famed Merchandise Mart where NeoCon is held. Did you see our Simplify! Facebook photos chronicling our journey to NeoCon and then during the show?!! Take a look – they’re a hoot.
Configura knows how to have fun “on the way to work” – but we got down to business too, taking a Best of NeoCon Silver Award in the Software/Technology category for MyConfigura, which just launched with CET Designer 3.0. We’re thrilled to hold this distinction – validation of Configura’s efforts begun several years ago to bring cloud-based capabilities to our users and beyond.
At NeoCon, we also awarded two free trips to our upcoming 5th annual CET Designer User Conference in Las Vegas to lucky CET Designers who entered our NeoCon-related contests. In one contest, CET Designer users could post on our Facebook and Twitter sites things they like about CET Designer – their posts entered them into the first drawing. In the second drawing, users could stop by our NeoCon booth to enter the contest. The first winner was Kaylie Tucker, an interior designer with Bank & Office Interiors, a Steelcase dealership in Seattle. The second winner was Elisa Feola, vice president of marketing for A. Pomerantz & Co., a Steelcase dealer with locations in Chicago and Philadelphia. Tucker and Feola will each receive free hotel and airfare to the CET Designer User Conference, to be held Oct. 24-25 at The Venetian/Palazzo in Las Vegas.
Tucker said this about CET Designer:
“CET Designer has changed my life. Because of the stress-free planning and specifying, I have far less stress in my life. CET Designer makes all of my presentations professional and beautiful. It is such a joy to turn around a quick price on just about anything clients ask for. It has also helped me to create detailed installation instruction drawings for complicated situations. I get many compliments on how easy it translates the design to both customer and installer.”
At NeoCon, Configura also announced that international product designer Ayse Birsel will be the keynote speaker at the 5th annual CET Designer User Conference. The New York-based Birsel is perhaps best known for her work designing Herman Miller’s Resolve office system and Moroso’s M'Afrique collection. She and business partner Bibi Seck own Birsel+Seck, a design and innovation studio that also works with such titans as Johnson & Johnson, Hasbro, Hewlett Packard, OfficeMax and Renault and Target. Birsel’s keynote presentation at the CET Designer User Conference will be based on her popular workshop Design the Life you Love, which addresses the issues that many people face when juggling a career, family and other obligations.
Also at NeoCon, Configura announced it will launch an Extension connecting its CET Designer software to Khameleon software. Khameleon is a business sytem and project accounting software used by office furniture dealers across North America. Configura’s CET Designer Extension built for Khameleon will serve as a bridge between the two software products.
Rounding out “Team Configura” at NeoCon 2012 were Configura Support and Training Manager Tracy Lanning, Configura’s Marie Dahlén from our Sweden headquarters and Configura PR person Molly Klimas of IntentPR based in Grand Rapids, Mich., USA.
They – and half the population of the Merchandise Mart it seemed – of course were at our booth party held on the first day of NeoCon. Signature Swedish cocktails and gorgeous Simplify umbrella giveaways were big draws to our beautiful space – also Swedish-designed. Check out even more photos of our booth and the entire NeoCon ’12 adventure in this Facebook photo album. Enjoy!
