Increase the speed when rendering an image to a file

Did you know that....

... you can affect the rendering speed when rendering an image to a file?

If you sometimes experience that it takes a long time to render an image to a file, there are several things you can do to increase the speed.

Render to file

As you probably know, you can render and save an image to a file that you e.g. can print out or e-mail. Just click the Rendering option button (see picture below) in the 3D view tool bar. In the Rendering dialog box that appears, click the To file button. Then, in the Render to file dialog box you can make a number of settings for your rendering (see picture below).

Below are a few tips of how you can increase the rendering speed:

  1. Select a lower resolution and possibly a smaller paper size. The rendering speed decreases the higher resolution and the bigger paper size you select.

  2. Zoom in on a limited area of the drawing. CET Designer will only render the components that are visible within the drawing area.

  3. Light sources are very memory and time consuming and by placing a limited number of light sources in the drawing area, you increase the rendering speed.

  4. Reduce the number of accessories in the drawing area, e.g. flowers.

  5. Limit the use of shiny materials. Shiny materials require more capacity of your compute when rendering.

  6. Avoid having many "heavy" programs running at the same time. The fewer program running, the more capacity is available for CET Designer, and the rendering speed increases.

  7. You can set a specific number of objects and light sources that should be rendered. Note, you make these settings in the Rendering dialog box.

Now, just click the Render to file button and enjoy your image.
