Part tagging

Did you know....

...that the Part tagging feature in CET Designer® allows you to add tags to components in the drawing and to easily categorize them?

Example

You are making a proposal to a customer with more than 200 workstations located on three floors. In this case, the project must be planned in detail and delivered according to a strict installation schedule. It is of the utmost importance that the furniture is unpacked in a certain order on site, and placed on the right floor for installation. Under such circumstances, Part tagging feature can be very useful, as it helps to categorize components and specify them in the Calculation dialog. Find out below how to tag components.

Tagging articles

To add tags and create categories, follow these steps:

  1. From the Tools menu, select Part Tagging. The Part Tagging dialog box opens (see Figure 1).
  1. Either select one of the predefined categories (TAG 1, TAG 2 or TAG 3) to use the tags that already exist, or create new ones by selecting New category and New tag (see Figure 1). (Note: It is important to keep the TAG 1, TAG 2 and TAG 3 categories. If you change the names or remove them, they will not be available in any other program than CET Designer.)
  1. If you created a new tag, enter a Label and/or Description at the bottom of the dialog box (see Figure 1).
  1. Click either the Tagging rectangle button or the Tag individually button (see Figure 1) to select articles in the drawing area:

• Tagging rectangle - After clicking this button, click and drag in the drawing area to draw a rectangle. The tag is attached to all components in the rectangle. This can only be done the 2D view.

Tag individually - After clicking this button, click on the components in the drawing area that should have the tag attached. This can be done in either the 2D or the 3D view.

  1. Confirm by clicking the Apply to selection button.

  1. Once the tags have been applied in the drawing area, you will automatically be directed to the TAGS viewing mode at the bottom of the 3D view. The tagged components will appear blue.
  1. Click the price information button in the top-right corner of the program window to open the Calculation dialog box. From the File menu, select View settings. The View settings dialog box opens. Click the Grouping tab and select the checkbox for the tag you have used in Part tagging. Click the Close button to return to the Calculation dialog box. It has now been updated and a column for your tag is now visible.

Comments

Thank you for your comment, Anonomous. It all depends on how it is exported and imported in CAP. We are using ProjectMatrix standard SIF, and Tags are imported into different fields. However, in CAP Worksheet you should have the option to import from a ProjectMatrix SIF, which could be the function you need to get it to work. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to assist you further in this. //Sara
Hi Maureen, sorry you had to wait for my reply! TAG1, TAG2, TAG3 populates the tag fields in the SIF file. However, you can override these with the Automatic Tagging features found in the Canvas Main menu (Golden Cabinet). I believe that the only tagging field that ends up on the labels on the shipped items are the TAG2 field. Please let me know if you have any other queries about this. //Sara
