Walk through your office space
Did you know....
....that you can record a movie in CET Designer and that way create a feeling of walking through an office space?
Example
If you have designed a large office space in CET Designer it might be hard for your customer to imagine the result in reality. With the CET Movie Studio Extension you can record a movie to give your customer a unique feeling of walking through their own space.
Recording a movie
Start by downloading the CET Movie Studio Extension from the Extension Manager. CET Movie Studio is free of charge. Note: You need to have the advanced graphics engine activated to be able to record movies in CET Movie Studio.
A movie consists of one or several scenes. You can choose to record a scene in 3D view fullscreen mode, or in the 2D view. You find a description of the two options below.
Recording in the 2D view
When recording in the 2D view you can record scenes in Walk mode.
To record a scene in the 2D view you need to draw a camera path that defines how the camera should move. Do as follows:
- Click the Simple camera path icon on the CET Movie Studio tab (see the figure to the right).
- Move the mouse pointer to the drawing area. A line is attached to the mouse pointer.
- Click once where you wish to start your path.
- Go to the next point where you wish to make a turn and click (see the figure below).
- Continue clicking until you have created a path.
- When you are satisfied with your path, move the mouse pointer outside the drawing area or press Esc.
- Once you have completed the camera path, the Movie Editor dialog appears (read more about the Movie Editor below).
Note: After placing the camera path, you can modify it by clicking and stretching its yellow snap points (see the figure above). You can then add another path if you wish. When you then play the movie, all scenes (paths) will be played one after the other.
Recording in fullscreen 3D view
If you record your movie in fullscreen 3D view, you can choose between five different recording modes, for example Walk mode where you get a feeling of walking through the space, or Fly mode where you get a smooth motion through the room.
Follow the steps below to record a movie in fullscreen 3D view:
- Click the Advanced recording icon on the CET Movie Studio tab (see the figure to the right). You will now enter the fullscreen recording view.
- Select desired recording mode in the drop down menu.
- Pan and zoom to desired starting point.
- Click the Start recording button to start recording.
- Move the mouse pointer around the room. Your mouse pointer is now a camera which records everything you see.
- Click once when you wish to stop recording.
- Start recording a new scene if desired.
Editing a movieWhen you have recorded all the scenes to your movie, you can decide which scenes to includ/not includ in the movie. The order of the scenes can be changed as well. You do this in the Movie Editor dialog (see the figure to the right) that you access from the component area or from the toolbar in the fullscreen 3D view. The same dialog will also appear automatically when creating a path in the 2D view. All the scenes that have been recorded in the actual drawing are listed in the Movie Editor dialog. |

Exporting a movie
When you are satisfied with your movie it's time to save and export the movie. Click the Save to file button in the Movie Editor dialog.
The final video can be saved to multiple avi formats. These formats do not require any additional codecs in Windows. You can set the rendering quality, the video resolution and the output quality.
