Positioning components

Did you know...

...that if you use the feature 'Align' you get a more exact positioning of components in the CET Designer drawing area?

Example

You are working with a drawing and wish to place two components next to each other, snap them together and align them.

To use the feature 'Align'

To align two components, first choose the user level 'Expert'. Then follow the instructions below:
  1. Place two components in the drawing area.
  2. Go to the 'Edit' menu and select 'Align', or click the 'Position Components' icon on the 2D view toolbar.
  3. Move the mouse pointer to the drawing area. A blue circle follows.
  4. Move the circle to the first component. The component is framed with a blue rectangle, and the circle attaches to certain points on it (see Figure 1).

Figure 1
  1. Click once when the circle attaches to the point you wish to place next to the second component.
  2. Move the mouse pointer to the second component. An arrow follows the mouse pointer (see Figure 2).
  3. Click once when the arrow attaches to the point you wish to move the first component to.
  4. The first component is moved and the two components are snapped together and aligned.

Figure 2

An input box appears automatically when the 'Align' feature is selected. Here you can indicate exact values for angles, coordinates, and also choose if components are to be snapped together or not.

Comments

I could dray the icon but it doest stay on the sceen. Please advise me, what should i click to make the icon placed.
Hi! Select the tool as described in the tip and move the mouse pointer to the drawing area and the component you wish to move. As you will notice, the blue circle that follows the mouse pointer snaps to ('finds') different areas on the component. Click once on one of these areas to place the tool. When you move the mouse pointer, an arrow follows. Move the mouse pointer to the second component, the arrow snaps to areas of this component as well. Click once and the first component is moved to the selected area on the second component. Did this solve your problem? //Hanna
