Determing the layout of your printout

Did you know...

....that you can customize the layout of your printout?

When you are finished with your drawing, you can determine the layout of your pintout by entering the Paper view.

Working in the Paper view

You set your layout in a special view called the Paper view. To access the Paper view click the icon Switch to paper view in the upper right corner of the drawing area. You will now enter an entirely new view where you have access to many new features.

To create a sheet in your printout that contains your plan view and a rendering of your 3D view, do as follows:

  1. Once in the Paper view, you will see two tabs to the right. Start by clicking the Viewport 2D icon on the Tools tab.

  2. Move the cursor to the paper. A blue dotted rectangle follows the mouse cursor.

  3. Click the paper where you want your plan view's upper corner to be positioned.

  4. Now drag the rectangle to the desired width and height. When you move the cursor outside the drawing area, your 2D view appears within the frame.

  5. Click inside the frame and zoom and pan until you get the desired result. When you're satisfied, click on the frame and select the categories you want to be visible. You can also lock the contents of the frame and thus avoid changing the contents by mistake.
  6. Now click on the Viewport 3D icon and position it on the paper in the same way you did earlier. You will now see your 3D view within the frame.

  7. Pan and adjust the view until you are satisfied and make the desired settings.

You now have a sheet with both your 2D view and your 3D view.

Beneath the sheet, different options to edit the sheet are available (see the figure below).

By clicking these icons you can for example add another sheet, make settings for the sheet and change the orientation of the sheet. You can also change the printout order of the sheets.

Tip! Add your own titleblock to the sheets by loading in a previous saved titleblock or create a titleblock from scratch. You find these features in the upper right corner of the paper view.

Printing your Paper view

When you are about to print your output, you need to select the Paper views checkbox in the Print Reports dialog.

There are many more features available in the Paper view. Read more about these in CET Designer's help file.
