Hiding Cad entities and layers

Did you know that...

...you can hide entities and layers in an imported Cad drawing?

An imported Cad drawing can include a number of different layers and entities. To make your work with the drawing easier, use the possibility to hide the entities and/or layers that do not need to be visible in your drawing.

Hiding Cad entities

To hide entities in a Cad drawing, do as follows:

1. Click the Hide dwg entities icon in the Cad (dwg/dxf) Tools field, on the Tools component tab (see figure above).

2. Move the mouse pointer to the drawing area and the cad drawing.

3. Click on all the entities that you wish to hide.

4. The entities are no longer displayed in the drawing area.

If the entities that you wish to hide are within the same area, you don't need to click each entity individually. Just click the Hide dwg entities icon, then click and drag a rectangle around the entities. All entities within the rectangle will know be invisible.

Hiding Cad layers

To hide layers in a Cad drawing, do as follows: 

1. Click the Hide dwg layers icon in the Cad (dwg/dxf) Tools field, on the Tools component tab (see figure above).

2. Move the mouse pointer to the drawing area and the cad drawing. When you hover the mouse pointer over an entity, all entities that belong to the same layer will turn bold.

3. Click once on the layer you wish to hide.

4. The layers are no longer displayed in the drawing area.

Turning on the visibility for hidden entities and layers

If you wish to make all hidden entities and layers visible again, just click the Show all hidden layers and entities icon in the Cad (dwg/dxf) field (see figure above). Clicking this icon will make all entities and layers visible.

To turn a specific entity or layer visible, open the Cad (dwg/dfx) dialog box by right clicking the cad drawing. Go to the Cad (dwg/dfx) layers tab and select the left checkbox belonging to that specific cad layer.
