If you are planning to upgrade or buy new hardware and are unsure about our recommendations, please contact our Help Desk and we will be happy to assist you.

Watch the movie to the right and view the differences between a computer that meets the large drawing system recommendations and one that meets the minimum system recommendations. Note; You will only notice this difference if you have a very large drawing.

System administration

User requirements
Users will need to have the privilege level to install software on the local device. The software should be installed as the user who will be using it.

The installation of some Extensions may require administrative privileges. We therefore recommend that you run CET Designer as administrator.

Firewall requirements
HTTP, port 80:

ftp.cet-extensions.net
mirror1.cet-extensions.net
www.cet-extensions.net

HTTPS, port 443:
lm.cet-extensions.net

Antivirus settings
Some users may experience problems with the advanced graphics engine returning a Failed to render notification.
This can be caused by your antivirus protection preventing the process CETRenderServer.exe from running.
Should you receive such notifications, open your antivirus software and add a process exception for CETRenderServer.exe

Known issues:
  • If you are using a fortigate firewall you need to add the IP address and URL for your sites to the filter area on the fortigate to be able to download extensions.
  • When installing a cloned or mirrored PC, you may experience  issues with your CET Designer licenses. Please contact CET Designer Help Desk for guidance before performing an operation like this.

Note: Marbodal users, to be able to contact the ordering system, the following settings need to be done in the firewall:
ip: 88.131.74.38
Port 20 and 21
FTP-Marbodal's server

More information Small project recommendations: Suitable only for small projects less than for example 25 workstations (also see the large drawing definition). Smal project recommendations are usually enough for kitchen drawings.

More information Large project recommendations: The definition of a large project is based on the number of drawing objects (i.e. CET Designer smart objects, Project Symbols objects, imported AutoCAD drawings and the number of textures used). Taking this into account a large project could for example contain between 50 and 500 workstations with the above system recommendations. Kitchen drawings are usually not definied as large projects.

1.)  Windows 7 has been tested in our lab environments. To ensure best performance, make sure that write-cache is enabled for your disks. Please contact CET Designer Help Desk for any help needed on improving performance under Windows 7.

2.)  Unless your graphics card supports at least OpenGL 2.0 or better, CET Designer may not be able to run on your computer at all.

3.)  Use of integrated graphics is not recommended. The usage of an integrated graphics card, or “graphics accelerator”, will significantly reduce performance and may cause program related issues.

4.)  For a more detailed look at technical details on graphics cards, system requirements and system recommendations, we have prepared this document (pdf).

5.)  Windows Vista has been thoroughly tested in our lab environments, and we have concluded that in some cases users may experience problems running CET Designer on Vista. To ensure best performance, make sure that write-cache is enabled for your disks. Please contact CET Designer Help Desk for any help needed on improving performance under Windows Vista.
